Did you know this about coconut oil?
It taste great! Coconut oil adds a really great taste to all foods but it is much superior to butter and other regular baking oils. It is ideal to add to treats such as cookies and brownies for a slight nutrition boost.
It is superior to other oils- It does not form harmful by-products when heated to normal cooking temperature like other vegetable oils do
It has Antibiotic properties! Coconut oil contains has anti-fungal, anti bacterial and anti-viral properties! When consumed you body converts the properties in the oil into a very beneficial properties for your body! These properties are claimed to help in dealing with viruses and bacteria causing diseases such as influenza. It also kills bacteria that causes ulcers, throat infections, urinary tract infections, ringworm, athletes foot , gum disease and cavities.
It can aid in weight loss: Not necessarily in your BROWNIES
You would have to watch intake of those of course. But, when used in preparing lean proteins and vegetables, coconut oil is helpful in reducing weight. Even though it is a ‘saturated fat’, most of the fat comes from MCTs (Medium-Chain Triglycerides).
MCT oils are a special type of fat that is digested and handled by the body more like a carbohydrate, than a fat. Most fats are long-chain triglycerides which are difficult to process, and are typically stored in the fat cells. MCT oils are absorbed in the bloodstream, and bypass the digestive process that most ‘fat’ takes. MCT oil provides quick energy for the body and therefore is less likely to be stored as body fat. When MCT is metabolized in the body, it behaves like a carbohydrate as opposed to a fat.
It is heart healthy. Although coconut oil is saturated by nature, it does not lead to increase in HDL and LDL levels. It is heart healthy; improves cholesterol ratio reducing risk of heart disease.
Inflammation is BAD and there is evidence that coconut oil reduces inflammation, boosts energy and endurance and that it improves digestion and absorption of other nutrients including vitamins and amino acids.
Fountain of youth? There is research supporting that coconut oil actually helps prevent wrinkles and age spots!
So, if you are going to indulge, add some of the miracle oil… coconut oil!
