Waist Trainers Yay or Nay?
I have heard it all…. magic weight loss pills, magic “wraps” and now magic “waist trainers”…. I get it. Hourglass shape is the dream and everyone seems to want results QUICK and NOW and putting in the work seems so dated.
Before knocking the latest fads I do like to give them a fair review. Since waist trainers seem to be the buzz I decided to actually try one before crinkling my nose. Let’s just say I didn’t really make it past 20 minutes in this thing…
The thought behind the Waist Trainer
The thought behind the waist trainer is to wear them to help re-position areas on your body so that you get more of an hour glass shape; make your waist look slimmer, your booty and chest a little bigger and supposedly burn more fat in the mid section area.
If you have used a waist trainer before, you may have had a different experience, but I had to share my experience. For starters, when I measured myself for one, I ordered a size bigger because I was nervous as to how it would fit. My plan was to wear it out one evening to get the full effect, but to be honest, I didn’t last more than 30 minutes. I could barely breathe and it was so uncomfortable.
Are they damaging? Probably not. Are celebrities using them? Probably. Are they accessible? Yes. They can be purchased online through various websites.
I hated the waist trainer and give it a thumbs down:
They actually weaken your core due to the simple fact you can’t use your core
There is no place to store your food (some may look at this as a “plus” because you can’t eat!)
They are uncomfortable
You can’t sit down without a ton of difficulty.
They hurt your rib cage
It’s simply not healthy to squish our bodies into something unnatural.
To me, the best part about them is TAKING THEM OFF!
Just do it the right way… workout, strengthen your core and eat healthy, unprocessed foods.
