Healthy Cereal: My Cereal Makeover
Here’s the deal…Most cereals are extremely UNhealthy. They are heavily processed with added junk and are literally nutritionally void. I mean even “natural” GRANOLAS can be loaded with added sugar. And because I love granola as much as (if not more than) anyone….I have had to find a way to make eating cereal healthy. So here is how I make over my breakfast so I can enjoy some yummy, healthy cereal. And if you want, you can watch me make it LIVE here.
Healthy Cereal Step One
I start with a low glycemic gluten free granola and I use HALF the suggested portion. I typically use only 1/4 cup.
Healthy Cereal Step Two
I make up the lack of protein and healthy fats, because those are extremely important to our diets, by adding 1-2 tbsp crushed walnuts.
Healthy Cereal Step Three
I then add more volume and some nutrients by adding 1/2 – 1 cup of fresh, organic, sliced fruit. Remember, buying organic when you can is huge.
Healthy Cereal Step Four
I then finish off this deliciousness with 1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla coconut milk, instead of traditional cows milk.
Voila! Cereal made over – nutrients eaten – taste buds satisfied. It tastes AMAZING and it’s nutritious!!! Don’t forget how important it is to eat balanced meals. There is a reason I added what I added to make this HEALTHY.
