Letting go of letting go…
Letting go – You know what you “should” be doing but you just can’t muster the motivation to do it. You are tired, you feel frumpy, you feel depressed, you have no energy, and you don’t get the point. You have let yourself go and you feel that what you used to be or want to be is so far out of reach that you don’t want to exert the energy it would take to change it. How do you do what you “should” do when you feel that your goals are too far out of reach.
Step 1 – How to start letting go.
Start with Goals. Take the time to think and write. If there were no obstacles, what would you like for you life? What would you want to be like? Feel like? Look like? How would you WANT to spend your days and your life? Think this through, fantasize, write them down. Once you do this, start to think backwards. What steps would need to happen today, tomorrow, this month to get you even a tad bit closer to your goals?
Start somewhere.
You don’t have to do everything at once. Pick one thing, and start there. Is it moving more? Eating better? What is one thing you can start doing TODAY? Take baby steps; you don’t have to make all changes at once. Pick one healthy thing you can do today and add to it tomorrow. Keep going. Don’t make all the changes at once. One step and one day at a time.
Take it outside. It is amazing what re-connecting with nature can do. You use all of your senses and you re-connect with the universe. Just a simple walk in the park or a slow hike can do wonders for your mood and soul. Take it all in. The views, the smells, the feeling.
Just move
Just move…it IS that SIMPLE! Get off the coach, out of the office, away from the computer and just start to walk. You don’t have to run a marathon, you don’t even have to go to the gym. Just MOVE. Walk down the street, walk a block, walk a mile, just MOVE! Park far away, take ‘long cuts’ to get places, take the stairs. You don’t have to be in a ‘gym’ to burn calories. Walking more throughout the day has HUGE impacts over the course of a year. Learn that ‘Every Step Counts’ HERE.
Think additions not subtractions.
Add healthy foods. Instead of being black and white and saying “NO” to everything, think about what you can ADD to your diet. Can you add some fruit? More veggies? Some different healthy options? Think of what you can add vs. what you have to eliminate.
Hydrate
Drink water. It is amazing the energy we gain from water. Our bodies are made up primarily of water and most of us are chronically dehydrated. When in doubt, drink MORE. Water cleanse everything out, restores our energy and is great for our skin and digestive system
Get some help and a plan. Sometimes just following a plan will give you a purpose. Talk with someone you admire or feel you can relate to that has been where you were before. Ask how THEY did it. How did they get started and let go of letting go?
Let go of letting go. DECIDE you are done letting yourself go. Start from where you are. Don’t dwell on what you used to be. Start right NOW!
Excuses or Solutions… YOU Decide!
