Why I choose bodyweight exercises over weights
I often get the question, “What’s better, working out with weights or bodyweight exercises?” And I’ll tell you what. I used to be a huge fan of training with weights and/or machines, but as time has passed, I truly believe that training using just your own bodyweight has so many more advantages. I share them with you in this video. Take a look…
Advantages of Bodyweight Training vs. Lifting Weights
Bodyweight Training is Time Efficient
You can get a full body workout in a short amount of time training with just your own bodyweight.
Bodyweight Training is Effective
When you train with your own bodyweight, you’re training functionally, which means working on multiple areas of your body as opposed to one specific muscle. For example, if you’re using the “chest fly” machine at the gym, you’re working just your chest. If you perform a push up, you are working your chest, shoulders, arms AND core. Another example, if you’re doing a tricep extension, you’re working JUST your triceps. If you perform a Tricep dip or a Tricep push up shimmie, you are working your triceps, core and even abs. Simply put, you are training functionally.
With Bodyweight training you can’t cheat the system
Challenge yourself to master the next thing. Take a plank for instance. Maybe you have to start out on your knees and you can literally only hold the position for 5 seconds. How do you get Stronger? How do you Progress? You just try and go a little longer the next time and the next time…
Bodyweight training is a solution to excuses
My Motto: “Excuses or Solutions… YOU Decide!” That’s it… you don’t get the excuse of having no time, not having a gym membership, not having equipment, etc.
