20 Aug DO YOU SABOTAGE YOURSELF?
DO YOU SABOTAGE YOURSELF?
I was talking to a good friend of mine today about her struggle with weight loss, health and confidence in her own skin.
She feels she self sabotages… AND:
She recognizes she’s privileged.
She has the time, the freedom, the money, the access to healthy foods, trainers, information and more.
So what was in her gap?
Why did she continue to self sabotage? She asked me for feedback.
She is successful in every other area of her life but felt like she was failing in THIS area.
What was in the gap?
We dug and here is what we figured out and I hope this will support you too:
1. She does not currently identify herself as a healthy , fit, slim person. And the “I am” statements for her do not work as her brain disagrees.
So… we did an exercise. I asked her to describe her ideal – as someone outside of her. She described “her” to a t and her whole body language shifted! The conclusion… she gets to “FORCE the vision” every day and ask herself “what decisions and choices would SHE (that vision) make.
2. It’s not uncomfortable enough to change. It is more UNCOMFORTABLE for her to make changes in habits than it is to stay in the habits no longer serving her.
For example: When in loose comfy clothes at home, she is not UNCOMFORTABLE enough so the choice to get up and workout or eat healthy doesn’t sound appealing.
That sounds UNCOMFORTABLE.
But… when in Fitted jeans, out in public etc… it is more UNCOMFORTABLE to make the not so healthy choices. Soooo- we discussed NEW habits she can implement like wearing fitted jeans at home to “remind her” and create discomfort.
Deciding comes first
Then creating a vision.
Make the current comfort uncomfortable.
She DECIDED to take this on and invite you to as well.
YOU ARE NOT TOO OLD AND IT IS NOT TOO LATE.
XO,
Natalie Jill
