Sometimes we let our daily lives consume us. We let people get to us, we let them determine our moods. Maybe you work around people who literally drain you. Maybe you’re just lonely and bummed. Maybe your kids are away and you miss them. Whatever the issue is, I GET IT. And it’s always nice to add a little sunshine to your rainy days — even if it’s just figuratively speaking. So here are 10 ways for happier days and how to be happy. I promise that these 10 small things can make a HUGE change in the way you’re feeling.

EXERCISE. MOVE AROUND. Pick a quick, workout from one of my DVD’s! Exercising releases

This is the same reason the term “runner’s high” was coined. It’s been proven that endorphins are responsible for reducing stress, ridding anxiety/depression, improves your sleep, increases self-esteem, and is all around GOOD for you and your body. If you don’t have it in you to do an intense workout…just get out and do SOMETHING, even if it’s moderate. Whether you garden, dance, golf, swim, walk, do yoga, ride a bike — just move!!  

INSPIRE YOURSELF.  Where do you get your inspiration from? I inspire yourself with natalie jillcan promise you that comparing yourself to others won’t get you to your happy place. Try to spend at least 10 minutes listening to your favorite music, reading a blog, listening to a podcast, drawing, writing, or even just looking on Pinterest for inspiration in your field of work or passions.

SMILE. You have to try this. Smile at anyone you make eye contact with. Do an experiment. Try it for a day and be amazed at how much happier you feel because of it. Smiling scientifically tricks your mind into thinking you are happy and releases those same feel good chemicals, endorphins!  

BE SILLY, LAUGH. Along with smiling….don’t be afraid to goof off. Laughing is actually really great for your abs 😉 Can’t find a reason? Well, turn to technology; try a dubsmash, send a funny face over snapchat, create a bitmoji or any other new funny trendy apps.be your best you with natalie jill

LOVE YO SELF.  Be your biggest fan. Look in the mirror and tell yourself at least 5 things you LOVE about yourself. Whether it be physical or a personality trait  — it makes no difference. What matters is that you must remember why you’re awesome and genuinely believe it. Positive affirmations are SO important to not only our happiness, but our success.

CALL. (yeah call…not text) a friend or family member and catch up. Get in touch. We get so busy in the hustle and bustle of our own lives and consumed by the day to day that we forget how important the little things are. EAT A HEALTHY SNACK. Yep. Eating CLEAN actually makes you feel better from the inside out. You know when you feel lazy and lethargic, not wanting to do ANYTHING, so you eat comfort food? And then you feel even MORE lethargic and unmotivated? Well…STOP! Treat yourself, your mind, and your body to a healthy snack and see what a difference in feeling it gives you. (P.S. ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE. Take a few moments out of your day to REALLY show gratitude. We all seem to be in this state of mind where it’s get more, be more, do more, more more more, that we forget how much we ALREADY HAVE. Take a moment, close your eyes, and live in the complete now. Do you have a roof over your head? Do you have a door that closes? There are SO MANY people in this world that can’t even say yes to that! You have eyes if you’re reading this, right? You have family and/or friends who love you and value you. You are living. You can eat. You can think. It’s the small things we take for granted. Being appreciative of ALL that you have is SO refreshing. If you have the money and need a new perspective on life, take a trip to a third world country. Don’t have the money? Watch a documentary. It’s truly eye opening. 

ACCEPTANCE & DECIDING. Accept the things that cannot change and learn to be okay with it and then change the things that are able to be changed. Change starts with you so change what you’re unhappy about. If it can’t be changed, then learn to deal with it. Set personal goals and then decide to take ONE step in the right direction of your goals each day.

BE YOUR BEST YOU. Let just today be your focus. No past, no present. Today. Just let you be your focus. Not what he or she is doing or what he or she has, just you. Work toward being better, toward being happier, toward giving more and loving more. It’s never too late to start loving yourself, loving others, and making this world a better place to be. We are all in this this together!
