17 Oct Inc. Magazine Feature – From rock bottom to dream job
Rock bottom isn’t the place to lose hope
You guys! You know I love sharing my story with you on how losing everything doesn’t mean you have to lose hope. So I particularly loved the fact that I was able to contribute to a feature in Inc Magazine where I was able to share how I turned my life around after my personal rock bottom! Rock bottom to dream job? What? YES! It’s possible!
In this feature, I shared how my life began to spiral out of control. Some of you may know — but for those who don’t, this was my situation:
The recession hit, the housing bubble burst, I was left in financial ruins, my marriage was over.
I was a new mom, single, depressed, in financial trouble, carrying around a lot of excess weight, a newly diagnosed Celiac, and frankly, overwhelmed, depressed, and feeling stuck.
How did I go from rock bottom to dream job?
I stopped making excuses and started looking for solutions. I needed to rebuild my self-esteem and I knew the best place to start was to improve my health and appearance by losing the excess weight.
As a master sports nutritionist and functional fitness trainer, I had the knowledge of what I needed to do but being accountable and staying motivated were going to be my challenge as a working, single mom. I get it – the struggle is real!
But I set a goal, I developed a plan, and I started sharing my personal journey on social media.
How my fitness hobby became my dream job
The positive reaction I received by posting my recipes and workouts on facebook was pretty instantaneous — people were actually interested in my simplified, unprocessed meals and my bodyweight workouts. They began to follow along and started sharing their own transformations on my facebook page. A growing community had formed and Natalie Jill Fitness was born.
My fitness hobby developed into a full-time job of my dreams and ultimately a successful six-figure company. The success of Natalie Jill Fitness has not always been easy, I have made lots of mistakes and had more than a few set backs but I’m constantly learning and the company continues to evolve.
There are four valuable lessons I learned along the way:
- Be authentic
- Delegate
- Time management
- Be a good listener
