Mount Soledad La Jolla
Super high above La Jolla and San Diego sits the Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial and a huge beautiful white cross that has been super controversial. The cross evoked over 25 years of lawsuits & court rulings. The cross placement created one of the longest legal battles over religious symbols on public property in the our country.
It’s been years since the ruling allowed the cross to stay, and now today it attracts tourist and locals daily.
To me, It is a beautiful cross and a beautiful memorial.
For day 23 me and my daughter walked up there with a friend and her daughter. I learned that each plaque on the walls has a photo and information about a veteran who fought and died for our country (including her step dad which she showed me!)
From where the cross is, there are incredible panoramic views that extend in all directions.
The views were incredible yes but what was even more rewarding was the time with my daughter and our friends doing something that we don’t normally do.
This expansion challenge reminds me daily the importance of exploring, doing new things, venturing out and connecting…
…even when we think we “don’t have time” or don’t “feel like it”.
