Can short bodyweight workouts really change your body?
I get asked this question all the time, “can short bodyweight workouts really change my body?”
The short answer is a resounding YES! (read on for more details…)
But let me turn the tables back to you for a moment and ask you this:
How far out of your comfort zone do you push yourself?
Are YOU…
…being intense with your workouts?
…out of breath?
…sweating?
Are you pushing yourself to the limit….and beyond?
This morning I did my bodyweight workout at the gym instead of at home. I saw so many people just “going through the motions” in their so called ‘workouts’.
Leaning on the handrails while on the elliptical, chitchatting through their ‘workout’, socializing, some were simply going through the motions putting zero effort into their movements. Others seemed to be daydreaming, pondering why they were even at the gym.
If you are doing any of these things, you may be putting in ‘time at the gym’ but it will never ever change your body! That is NOT how you progress or get results.
When you pay attention to what you are doing and FOCUS on your workout, the magic starts to happen. When you decide to push yourself outside of your comfort zone, that is when the change begins to happen.
Staying in your comfort zone will NEVER change your body.
Intensity, Progression and FOCUS will.
During my work this morning, I spent 20 minutes at the gym. I listened to the same song on repeat. A song that motivated me and pushed me to give it my all (yes it was Panda Panda Panda lol)
It got intense. I wanted to throw up. My heart rate went up dramatically. I was sweating profusely. There was no way I could have any type of conversation.
I left everything in the gym during that workout. I was DONE at the 20 minute mark. I had nothing left to give. That is the kind of intensity I am talking about!
The TRUTH Is…
Listen, it doesn’t require hours a day in the gym. If you ‘hit it with intensity’ for 10 to 20 minutes of pure focus on your workout, you will get results.
It doesn’t matter where you are starting from or what your situation is. What matters it that you start TAKING ACTION, and start progressing from whatever your current start point is. Keep pushing the boundaries of your comfort zone and make it happen!
One last thing to think about…especially for those of you trying to get started and having your doubts. 10 minutes per day of body weight exercises might not seem like much. But look at it this way. Over the course of a year, that is over 60 hours of working out!
Most people aren’t gaining 30 pounds in a month, they are gaining the slow and often ‘invisible’ 1-2 pounds per month that becomes 30 pounds before you know it. 10 minute body weight workouts are a GREAT place to start in turning it all around!
Are you in?
