How to take before and after pictures to measure progress
How to take before and after pictures to accurately measure progress. So…You have DECIDED to make a lifestyle change. Maybe it is to lose weight, tone up, or even gain muscle! Whatever it is- CONGRATULATIONS!
By now, you have taken the first step in selecting a program that will teach you how to shift your mindset, and how to eat and exercise for maximum results to achieve your goals.
Then, you have taken the next steps and read through the program, established your “WHY”, and maybe you have even started grocery shopping. SO now what? Did you know that the BEST way to track your results is to take pictures and measurements?
Notice that I didn’t use the word ‘scale’ anywhere? It’s time to throw away those scales! Transformations are all about how you LOOK and FEEL and so much more than just a number on a scale.
OK, ready or not it’s time to take those before pictures and measurements. It’s like ripping off a band-aid. The faster you do it, the better. Deep breaths, deep breaths. I will walk you through it so you know what to do:
How to take great before/after photos:
Step #1: Wear swimwear or tight fitting workout wear that shows your figure. This is the best way to see the changes that have happened in your body! Side note: Do NOT wear grungy, baggy or overly-revealing clothing.
Step #2: Set up to take your pictures in front of a plain background or white wall.
Step #3: Have someone else take the photo for you or set the timer on your phone. Make sure that your entire body, head to toe is visible in the frame.
Step #4: Take the photos from many angles. A front view, side view, and back view. You can put your hands at your sides, on your hips, even flexing in the air! Just make sure that you have before/after photos in the same exact poses/angles so you can accurately see your transformation and hard work!
Step #5: Remember to include your pretty, smiling face in the photos. You will be amazed at what a difference you will see even in your skin when following an unprocessed diet.
Lastly, don’t forget to take progress pictures, in the exact same outfit, location, and “pose”, throughout your journey as well! Watching the transformation happen before your eyes in photographs is really cool!
