Words Hurt

Words Hurt

Words Hurt. ME as a baby. We’re born a blank slate. Then life happens. I’ve failed & fallen down, more times than I can count. All of those moments should have killed my confidence.

As a baby I was FAT. 8 rolls on my arms like the Michelin man. People would stop my mom and say “what a big bruiser you’ve got.”

Words hurt with Natalie Jill

In elementary school I was punched by a girl named Tracy for “being ugly”.

Words Hurt. I started believing I was ugly.

In 4th grade, a 5th grader named Kelly used to glare at me and call me mean names. I started believing I was unworthy.

Teachers told me I was a slow learner, I had ADD and more. I believed I was dumb.

Kids made fun of me for my poofy hair. This was before flat irons were invented haha.

I was born with a “unibrow” (again see this baby pic of me) which started years of waxing and plucking” till this day at age 48 I STILL get comments about my brows. 🤷🏻‍♀️

At 18 I was made fun of as a waitress for having a “flat chest.” I believed I needed boobs to be liked so I got a boob job at age 19. 19! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Then, in my twenties I lost my dad- the person I felt always believed in me.

Because I had a VERY controlling boyfriend in my twenties, I thought I was nothing and would not amount to anything in life without him.

At 36 I lost my husband, my house and I therefore believed I was not love-able or worthy of good things.

In business I have failed too many times to count.

I believed I should GIVE UP.

Even today, being an author, having my podcast, being on social media, teaching, giving, I am attacked and criticized every single day.

For every 100 “Natalie you helped me, you changed my life” there are still MEAN comments and messages (normally left by people with plants or pets as their profile picture) always about my APPEARANCE. These words hurt.

DANG. People can be hurtful.

Big or small, short or tall, rich or poor, beautiful or not, we ALL GET JUDGED and it affects our confidence. Above all, without confidence, nothing in our lives thrive.
