Work Towards Stronger…
Who decided SKINNY was the ideal?
Not sure how or when the term “skinny” became trendy, but when you look the word up in the dictionary, this is what the word “SKINNY” says:
Skinny: adjective that describes a person or their body and its synonyms are scrawny, bony, hollow cheeked, gaunt, stick like, emaciated, waif like, skeletal, undernourished and underfed.
Ummmm WHAT? Is that REALLY what you want to strive for?
When working towards becoming a better version of YOU why not strive for STRONGER.
When you get STRONGER a magical thing happens; your body gets fit and you feel energized! Muscle starts to develop and excess body weight starts to disappear.
Working towards SKINNY is DISCOURAGING but working towards STRONGER is EMPOWERING.
How STRONG are you?
Here is something for you to consider instead: How STRONG are you?
Try focusing on that, and NOT how skinny are you, or how much do you weigh, or what size you are.
Stop focusing on how long can you workout for. Stop using bad form. Stop focusing on how many calories the elliptical “says” you “burned”.
Instead, ask the question: How STRONG am I?
Please ask yourself these questions:
- Can you do push-ups?
- Can you hold a plank?
- Can you lift your own body weight (pull ups and chin ups?)
- Can you do exercises with a stability ball where you can actually stabilize the ball?
- Can you walk up hills without getting winded and can you get through your day without huge energy drops and without pain from overtraining?
Strong is empowering. Skinny is discouraging. Skinny focuses on doing more, and doing it stricter.
Exercise should help you progress. It should energize you, make you feel great, and ultimately MAKE YOU STRONGER!
Work towards feeling STRONGER and be EMPOWERED!
Be Happy… Be Healthy… Be FIT!!!
